custom fields and related posts

Hi Guys

I have been searching for days for a solution which I’m siure is probably quite simple but I can’t seem to get it to work.

I’m quite new to the wordpress world so apologies if this is a really silly question.

I am trying to display a list of related posts based on a custom field value. I would like to be able to retrieve 5 or so posts based on the custom field. I would just like to display the post title, date and featured image if possible.

I have found a few solutions but none seem to cater to the above requirements. If anyone is aware of any tutorials I can follow I would be most grateful.
