I’ve noticed a problem when trying to save custom field data. The scenario: A user is subscribed to a list, then subscribes to another list that requires a few more custom fields (the subscription form requires the user to fill out these custom fields). The result is the user gets subscribed to the new list, but the custom field data is not saved.

Custom field data is saved for new users, it’s just existing users that have this issue.

  • Hi @leeviathan,

That’s not a bug, that’s actually the expected behavior. You cannot update a subscriber’s profile by subscribing through a different form.

If you want to add new custom fields and have more data from your existing subscribers, you need to ask them to access the Manage Your Subscription page and edit their profile there.

    Thank you.

To me the expected behavior is really unintuitive; I wouldn’t expect a bunch of required fields to just disappear into the ether. We’re now in an embarrassing situation where our subscribers’ information is lost (?) and we have to ask them to enter that information again?

For us, we actually want to use our newsletter to request additional information; for example: subscribers to the new list enter their mailing information to receive a physical copy of our publication.

We can find a different solution, but using Mailpoet seems like it could be a perfectly good option if it could save form data for existing subscribers.
