I see that the pro version does this (emphasis added):

WP All Import Pro automatically detects the names of the Custom Fields used by your plugins and themes, so you don’t have to guess, ask the author, or look through the code.

However, should I be able to import custom fields using the free version if I properly set up the Name and Value pairs in the Custom Fields section? Or is the custom fields import not even processed in the free version?

I’ve tried this several times – and failed – trying to import custom post types and custom fields for the Easy Testimonials plugin. (Custom fields are for such things as author of testimonial, job title, company, etc.) I have used the underscored meta_key values from the wp_postmeta table for the Names and then dragged the field identifiers into the Value boxes. But nothing happens for custom fields.

    Thanks in advance.

Hmmm… I think I found the answer. I just tried the import using a different testimonials plugin, and the All-Import did auto-detect the custom fields of the new plugin. But when I processed the import, none of the custom field values were imported.

So correct me if I’m wrong: The free version shows the Custom Fields import section as a sort of “tease”. (I had thought that the difference between free and premium was that only the premium auto-detects. But my trial with the free All-Import and the new testimonials plugin – whose meta_keys are NOT prefixed with underscores – did autodetect the fields.)

    Hi Jeff,

Importing custom fields is not supported by the free version of WP All Import.
