Custom Fields not being sorted alphabetically

  • I have my post index setup as [post_index groupby=”firstLetter”] and while all my posts are being sorted into the right letter group, the custom field posts are being separated to the end of a letter group instead of being integrated.

    Ex:

    Dangerous Liaisons (1988)
    Dawn of the Dead (2004)
    Deck the Halls (2006)
    Double Jeopardy (1999)
    DragonHeart
    Da Vinci Code, The
    Day the Earth Stood Still, The (2008)

    The bold titles are using a custom sort to move the initial articles to the end of the title for the index. Can I get around this or fix it?

    So, I kinda figured out what is happening. While the value itself is changed, it is still sorted as if it has the initial article in front of it. Titles with “a” or “an” are arranged before anything else while titles with “the” are usually placed towards the back. Not sure if there’s much to be done about this.
