• Sorry if this is a stupid question, but when I enter something in Custom Fields , and press Save, it doesn’t get saved in the database. (I checked my Mysql DB)
Even though it says “Custom fields updated”.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem :-/
    I am running WordPress 1.2

OK, maybe I need to be more specific.
I can add meta fields to new posts I create.
But I can’t attach meta data to existing posts. I doesn’t get saved. I think this is a bug, does anybody have the same problem ?
The reason I want this to work is because I want to rate the movies I have seen with a metadata field.
I hope someone can help me out here .

    Anyone please ?

custom fields has never worked for me either.

I’m having similiar problems with PHP 1.2.2 on PHP 4.1.2 (Debian Woody). Nothing happens if you create, update or delete custom fields, allthough WP states it was successfull. The SQL WP generates works, I tested that in PHPMyAdmin.

This makes using the TechnoTag plugin quite a pain.

Custom Fields work, however, with PHP 4.3.x.

I slighly get the impression that WP never was tested on PHP 4.1.2 accordingly (though this is still the second wide spread PHP installation), and this make me shiver when looking forward to WP 1.5 with it’s bunch of new code.

I am using WP 1.2.2 and PHP 4.3.0.

The custom field suddenly does not work for me, too. It was working all right previously but not for today.

I added custom field, WP said it is updated but I do not see the custom field. Checked database, there is no new record in the postmeta table.

    I wonder what’s wrong with that… ??

    Hi to all!

I have been using custom fields properly with WP 1.51 until recently when the same phenomenon as evoked here occurs : new custom fields do not get recorded i.e. once my post is saved, a subsequent new/modification to an entry’s pulldown menu does not display the new custom field, only the ones that were recorded prior to the start of this problem.

I can only think of one essential change which occured at arround the time the problem showed up: I transfered my database (exported from mySQL and re-imported) when I changed server. All the rest of my WordPress site is working properly. Verification of the database says all “Okay”.

I am a novice with MySQL (4.0.25) and phpMyAdmin (2.6.4-pl2) – and I don’t want to muck around too much, so and I greatly appreciate any suggestions to solve the problem.
    Many thanks to all
