• Hi all,

I’m about to start working on a WordPress site for a client after not really using WP much for some time. This particular implementation will need custom fields when posting – I’ve been using ExpressionEngine for ages and am very familiar with how it works in there. I’m a bit confused about the whole custom taxonomy and post-type thing.

This site is for a well-established catering company and they want to put the usual stuff up i.e. menus, recipes for clients, etc. Their current site is WP3 but is fairly vanilla in terms of customisation on the back end.

They’ll need to be able to click “Add Recipe” – I think I’m OK with that part by adding the appropriate register functions to functions.php etc, right?

If that’s all OK, they then need to have fields for the recipe’s ingredients – that’s the part I’m not sure about. I know I can add custom fields down the bottom of the add/modify post screens but I’m not sure if that’s the right way to do it.

Can anyone offer some guidance about how they’d accomplish this in WP? I can explain the equivalent in EE, if that helps (although I suspect it won’t as EE is quite different from WP).

    Thanks! ??
