Custom Fields With Brandford Magazine
-
I’m playing with the Branford Magazine Theme on one of my sites (not know to the public yet, I’ve just added a ‘blog’ subdirectory) but I’m having difficulty with my images and ‘custom fields,’ I’d appreciate some advice.
OK I’ve put together a number of ‘lorem ipsum’ type posts and posted them into a category I called ‘Dogs,’
I then created a dummy image and saved it to: blog/wp-content/themes/branfordmagazine/images/coloured-rectangle.gif
With the post I was working with open I went to; add an image – browser uploader – browse – images – coloured-rectangle.gif and selected upload. The link url came back as https://www.mydomain.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/coloured-rectangle1.gif
Next I created a new custom field with the key featuredarticleimage and the value set to 2008/11/coloured-rectangle.gif. Selected ‘update’ and ‘save’ the article had already been posted.
When I went to preview the page the image was not there. What I did see was that there was s rectangle box sitting over the article preview with the word ‘featuredimage’ within the box. The box was clickable and opened up that post.
The image itself was saved to: ../Desktop/mydomain/blog/wp-content/themes/branfordmagazine/images/coloured-rectangle.gif
Here’s an extract from Brandford index file.
// “Featured articles” module begins
query_posts(‘showposts=3&cat=3’); ?>

<?php
// name of the “featured articles” category gets printed
wp_list_categories(‘include=3&title_li=&style=none’); ?>

And the category for my post is indeed 3.
I really would appreciate some suggestions. I’ve been at this that long now that I’m running around in circles ?
