The plugin only compresses the photos that are located in the media library. It won’t compress any images located anywhere else.

In the future we might add the ability to compress not just the images in media library, however I don’t know if or when that will happen. I am sorry for the inconvenience! If you want you can check out the documentation for the API at https://tinypng.com/developers/reference and build your custom solution.
