I created a data layer variable called department which sends the department name of the page that belongs to it to Tag Manager. Since we are using Site Kit, the page view event trigger is not being used in Tag Manager. What I need to do is send the department value with every page view that GA4 logs.

Is there a suggestion on how I can do this without uninstalling SiteKit and loading GA4 via tag manager?

    Thx

    Hi @smartguyus,

Thanks for reaching out. If using Site Kit to place your Tag Manager snippet this is no different to manually placing your snippet. Site Kit inserts the tag for users, so as long as you have the events tracked at Tag Manager level they should be firing if using Site Kit. You can check what events are firing by using the tagassistant.google.com service.

As the snippet placed via Site Kit is the same as the snippet that Tag Manager provides there should be no difference when it comes to events. I’m happy to check for your snippet if you want to share your site URL, whether it’s a manual or Site Kit placed snippet.

When it comes to events not triggering the product experts over at the Tag Manager Help Center should also be able to assist more than we can here in Site Kit plugin support.
