So I’ve tried many different approaches to uploading a custom header image. I’ve tried numerous qualities and file types and resized many times. I’m trying to use the default size of 940×198. My theme is Weaver using the Twenty Ten sub theme.

The image is a simple black and white logo masthead with type. The images were sized correctly and created in Adobe Illustrator. Here is my site:

I have noticed that all of the masthead images in my media library have the filenames changed to “cropped-masthead.jpg”. That leads me to believe that the issue in the funtions.php and there is a script causing the images to crop.

Any help would be amazing. I think I gave all the info.

I’ve also read dozen or posts on here of people with the same issue. None of the solutions I’ve seen have worked.

Thanks! After three days of frustration I figured it out just before you posted.

The problem was a plugin I installed a week ago and forgot about. It was meant to auto-compress images when you upload them to make the site load faster. BUT it just the site look terrible. No thanks.

Lesson: Check all plugins to see how they affect your site if you can’t figure out why something is happening.

    Resolved.
