Custom Headers in Child Themes

  • I wanted to override the Twenty Thirteeen’s custom header file (custom-header.php) with my own modified code in the custom header in the child theme, and I am having difficulties in doing so.

    In other words I want to exclude the original custom-header.php and use my own custom-header.php instead in the child theme?

    Can a modified custom header work in child themes?

    Basically I wanted the top header (.site-header) to stretch to the entire width of the screen.

    Anyone can assist?
