Custom Home Page not working – Error after save and reload: Content gone

  • Hi everyone,

    I started using PageBuilder three days ago and I am amazed since. However, a key bug occured. As I mailed with Greg yesterday and he asked me to put this question up here, I suppose this bug has not been filed to the forum yet. If I have overlooked a similar problem below, please comment and link to that post.

    Here’s what happens:

    After I had activated the “customhome page”-switch in the appearences menu, I began dragging rows and columns, edited different widgets and put in some text and graphics. I hit “save” and everything went just fine ?? After some more edits without additional widgets added, I hit “save” again. After the page reloads, all rows, columns, widgets and content are gone! It’s a clean canvas after hitting the save button. So pretty much the worst of all scenarios ??

    This problems seems to occur mainly at the “custom home page” level, not as frequently at the general pages.

    I have given it a try on a XAAMP server where the error has not occured so far. I’m curious if anyone else has made smimilar experiences?
    How could I discount my server from being the problem? I’m reluctant to continue developing, as with any save and reload all work might be lost again.

    I do not get any error code but am only left with a clean custom home page canvas after hitting save. Can I find a specific error code somewhere?

    This does sound like quite a serious issue. Without actually seeing the issue myself I can only guess what the problem might be.

    This could very well be a browser related issue. If you’re creating large pages, your browser might be cutting the post message to the server short. This isn’t very likely if you’re using a modern browser like Chrome or FF, but it’s worth looking into if you’re using IE.

    Another possibility is that a widget, or the content you’re adding to a widget is somehow mangling the post message so Page Builder can’t understand it. Can you give us an idea of what widgets you’re adding and what content you’re adding to them?

    I know German uses some special characters. This shouldn’t be causing a problem, but I’ll look into it if you can give me an idea of what sort of content you’re adding.

    Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this issue

    Hi Greg,
    thanks for getting back to me so quickly! This issue appears to have been resolved! I moved from the server of a colleague to my company’s server this morning and so far the error has not occured. Both the plugin and wordpress are current.

    I use FF 24 (wow, those guys are iterating…) and added mainly the Black Studio MCE Plugin, the Vantage Line Plugin and the “Icon” Plugin. Those were the ones I used initially and coincided with the error.

    After it worked flawlessly also on XAMPP I assume is has been fully a server-specific issue. I will keep an eye on this, but I truly think it’s working now ??
