Custom Icon Help! Hover/Click Stay Active

I’m a bit of a news bee, have some CSS and HTML experience, & really need help with this..

I need the hover image of my custom icon to remain displayed when the menu is active.

<<SETTING 3>>
(Icon and hover-icon uploaded via Appearance>Menus>individual mega menu settings)
<<SETTING 2>>
The MMM settings (Appearance>Menus) are switched from “hover” to “click”
<<SETTING 1>>
the Appearance>Theme Options “Highlight Current Item” is active (checked.)

I realize that Setting 3 takes control of 1 & 2… but there are no options for this
Any help would be just awesome! Thank you!!
