Custom Image Sizes break PDF Previews

  • The site I’m developing heavily uses PDFs.

    My PDFs are uploaded to an Advanced Custom Field, WP generates a PDF preview and that preview image is displayed on the page.

    I have added a few custom image sizes in order to display these previews.

    Here’s what’s odd:

    WP will generate previews. However, only the native WP sizes actually show up.

    The CUSTOM image sizes are actually created, but they retain a .pdf extension, even tho the are actually rendered out as JPGs.

    As such, WP won’t ever display these previews as the file extension is wrong.

    I’ve tried a few different thumbnails regeneration plugins and none of them seem to work.

    SOME of the custom image thumbnails are generated SOME of the time, but I can’t really tell under what circumstances this actually works.

    In general, I get the above error.

    Any suggestions?
