I am having a hard time figuring out how to customize the more_text=”Read More” links as well as the [Strong read_more] call. Instead of having the “more_text” call lead to the single testimonial in question, I would rather have it go to my custom page of all my testimonials that display their full text. The same goes for the [Strong read_more] call.

For example, here on this dev site (LINK) you will find 3 testimonials at the bottom of the page that have the “more_text” call plus the [Strong read_more] shortcode below it. Is it possible to get all those links to point HERE instead?

It can be confusing. I’m working on a better solution.

more_text is for more_post which only goes to the full testimonial. It’s meant to be used exclusively with excerpt or length. (demo)

I would rethink pointing each testimonial to anything other than the rest of the post. If I wanted to finish reading one, I would have to search for it on the full testimonials page.

read_more needs the target page slug and its link text goes in the shortcode content like so:

[strong read_more page="testimonials"]Read more of what our recent clients have to say ?[/strong]

Thanks for chiming in so quickly Chris.

For me, the point of using “more_post” with the “length” call is simply to have some uniformity on the page, otherwise each testimonial varies in length. What would be awesome would be for the “read more” link to actually direct to a popup of the testimonial in question, like a light box, rather than forcing the viewer to a single page dedicated just to that testimonial.

I simply find the single page for each testimonial too much of a waste of overall space.

On a side note, thanks for the help with the [strong read_more]

No doubt, use of space is important. Sometimes, a balance needs to be struck. As a developer, I must also consider how visitors expect things to work and provide the necessary functionality without supplanting your theme.

Since your theme is the component creating the space to begin with, maybe a custom testimonial template is in order; something built around shorter posts, instead of shoehorning them into a template designed for longer ones.

Would you like to see an example of what I mean?

Regarding the lightbox idea, I have started to organize the feature requests here https://www.wpmission.com/project/strong-testimonials/. I invite you to become a member, submit your idea, and vote for it. (The site is functional but a little rough around the edges.)
