Custom Menu Content Leads People Away from My Site

    Is there a way for links that I use in my custom menus to open in a separate browser window instead of making visitors leave my site to view the content?

    I know I can use link with the target=_blank selected, but I don’t have control of the order of links like I do in custom menus.

    I have the suffusion theme, so could I possibly add something to the code to make this happen?

    I found the answer to this and since I’ve seen a few people asking this, I figured I’d update my post.

    When you go to Appearance -> Menus and click on the “Screen Options” at the top right, you will see some options turn up. Select “Link Target” there and an option to define a link target will show up for each menu item.

    THANK YOU for this post! I was banging my head against my desk trying to conceive how I could possibly do this.

    You are quite welcome. I’m glad it helped someone. I searched and searched and even found a couple long threads in these forums that ended up with “tough luck” for the person asking.

    WordPress needs to make this option much more visible.

    This helped me tremendously.

    I also wanted to say thanks. Like others I was well aware of ‘How’ _blank worked but like daledude my head was starting to hurt from hitting it on the desk in frustration. Ha.

    This was an awesome help! Makes me think what else have I been missing in Screen Options!
