I’m having a problem related to custom menus and pages.

I’m unable to delete a custom menu.

I’m unable to remove a page from a custom menu (though I can move it around in the hierarchy add new pages, add a new custom menu, etc.)

And also -I don;t know if this is related – I cannot permanently delete a page after it is trashed.

In the first two cases, the screen just goes blank when running nav-menus.php, and nothing further happens. Reloading the menus page (going back a page or two in the browser) shows that the changes I tried to make haven’t stuck.

I’ve reinstalled WP 3.5.1, disabled all the plugs, but it still doesn’t work. I’d be grateful for any suggestions!

  • What theme are you using and have you modified it directly in any way?

Have you tried with the default (unedited) theme?

Seacoast, many thanks for your very fast reply, much appreciated.

I did in fact make a mistake when trying to resolve the problem before I posted here – I thought I had disabled all the plugins, but apparently not – I must have missed one out the first time round. I went throught the sequence again, disabling them one at a time, and found the offending plugin – GD bbPress Attachments. It was, for some reason, the cause of all the problems listed in my post above. Having disabled that, everything now works fine.

My apologies for wasting people’s time – but on the other hand, if anyone else has a similar problem, and has that particular plugin installed, try disabling it and see if that fixes it.
