I cannto save my custom menu, i.e. I cannot add any more items to it. I only have around 12 pages!

I can create another custom menu but cannot save the menu after adding items, the page loads with ‘menu updated’ message but items have been removed.

    I have tried:

    1. Using Default Theme
    2. Switching of recently added/updated plugins

Any other things I can try?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

You might be hitting a custom menu limitation issue but that’s something you would need to discuss with your hosts.

I will have to deactivate more plugins I guess.

I tried the default theme thing.

I am not sure what you mean by resetting will try that though.

Dreamhost is my host will ask them as a last resort.

See the page at the link I posted above.

I’ve flagged this up for the attention of Dreamhost. One of their support people should be along shortly.

Wow, okay I deactivated basically all my plugins.

I then found loads of menu items in PENDING state!?

    What is that all about?

It then said to save the menu to have items in pending to be made public.

I also noticed I can move items around and save again ??

Will activate plugins now one by one and see how things go.

    Thanks

Okay it seems everything is working again. The deactivation/activation process seems to have fixed the whole situation.

    Thanks again! ??

Yes, plugins will do that to you. :/ If it keeps hanging, or happens again, feel free to email me at mika.epstein at dreamhost.com with your domain name, and I’ll kick Apache/SQL for you, to see if anything needs to be reset. My guess would be PHP timed out and cached something stupidly.
