• I am trying to create a custom navigation menu on my Twenty Ten theme, and can’t seem to find a fitting forum topic, or tutorial on how to do this. Firstly, I’m very new to html/css, so I would ideally like a well detailed explanation.

Please take a look at my shabby site so far, to see what I’m trying to do: https://thewicks.ca/primetimers/wordpress . (I know it’s a bit of a nightmare right now, just trying to fix one thing at a time)

So what i’d like to have, is a navigation menu, using the same font as the header, that blends into the background, making it all one seamless area, that makes it appear like the text is just sitting on top of the background image. Here’s a little mockup of what I’m trying to achieve: https://thewicks.ca/images/sitemockup2.jpg

I would love it if anyone had a detailed explanation on how to do this, or linked to a good tutorial.

I found one tutorial that uses the ‘custom links’ option in ‘appearance – menu’, but I’m pretty sure the Twenty Ten theme doesn’t have this option.

I’ve sliced up the section for the buttons in Photoshop, and exported as separate jpgs, but need to find a way to place them in their appropriate spot.

    Thanks very much in advance!

    Really?

It seems like this should be a simple thing, what am I missing? Why are there no good tutorials on this? Am I using the wrong terms to search for this? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
