    Hi Sybre,

I finally have some time to start testing your SEO plugin.

I noticed that the page description is generated automatically. When I want to have a Custom Page Description I can type that. But… I would like to be able to edit the automatic page description, and not type it again (in case of small changes). Is that possible, or am I doing something wrong?

    Hi allm,

It’s currently shown as a placeholder, not as a current input value. This is why you essentially overwrite it when you start typing.

This is however possible, but requires JavaScript manipulation in its current state, which makes for a quite counter-intuitive user interface. I think more users would detest such an interface rather than adoring it.

So, currently, the custom page description requires a completely manual input. Just like any well known input box :).

I hope this clears things up! Have a great day!

First of all I want to pay my respects for all the work that you do with this plugin and in answering all those questions.

From your answer I get how it works. And that is fine. I just wanted to edit the automatic description and by doing that make it into the custom description. That did not work and copying the text also didn’t work.

I just noticed that once you make a custom description everything works as expected.

It’s no big deal. I guess you want to input a new description anyway, in stead of messing with the automatic one.

    I’ll set this to resolved.

    Hi allm,

    Thanks!

And you’re right :). It’s better to create a even more organic new description rather than building on the automated one, as it’s already trying to fit as much as possible within 155 characters.

You can copy it from the developer tools (F12 or right click->Inspect Element), using the placeholder’s value. But that’s quite a hassle.

If you have any more suggestions, let me know! I’ll gladly consider them :).
