    Greetings,

I am helping to migrate a website to WordPress on Apache 2/Ubuntu. One requirement is keeping the same URLs, so I installed the Custom Permalinks plugin. I used it to change the relative URL of the first post currently in the https://freeknowledge.eu home page (“MEET.COOP – online meetings…”) to

    /article/meetcoop-online-meetings-with-shared-values

when I did that, WordPress correctly updated the link to that post in the home page, as you can see yourself visiting https://freeknowledge.eu

But if you click there, you get “The requested URL was not found on this server.”

ALSO: if I look at the Custom Permalinks/Post Types Permalinks panel in the dashboard, I see that that post has a “/en” suffix which I did not add, that is https://freeknowledge.eu/en/article/meetcoop-online-meetings-with-shared-values

What is happening, and what should I do to fix or further investigate this?

I see no error in the Apache logs. The problem is present both with the default theme (Twenti-Twentione) and with others. Besides Custom-permalinks, the only plugins installed are Custom editor (because Gutenberg would just not work on our server), Polylang, and “Better Search Replace”, that I installed to automatically update the URLs of images embedded in posts.

    TIA,
    Marco

Update: the problem appears only with https links. If we force navigation with http, things work

Hi @mfioretti It seems like that you are having the issue due to SSL. Can you please share WordPress General settings screenshot? Also, If you disable the Custom Permalinks plugin, then does the Default URL works for you?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Sami

Hi @sasiddiqui : yes, the issue was due to SSL, and it may be partly due to misconfiguration of my own browser. However, the coordinator decided to change the requirement, so I have stopped using the plugin for that website. Will take it into account for future projects, thanks.
