custom post type permissions

Using the Ultimate Member plugin 2.0.33 (wordpress 4.9.8)

The theme that I am using uses custom post types to populate things like the slider, and various sections on the homepage.

I want to grant a user role permissions to edit some of those sections.

However…. granting them the right to edit posts does not permit them to do so and there is no option listed for the various custom post types. I know those types are exposed, since my custom slider and another custom category page allow the segregation/display of specific custom post types…

So, how can I use the role editor in Ultimate Member to grant permissions to edit specific post types to a role?
