I tested your plugin on my local development environmental after exporting my live website db.

I cannot access my custom post types, e..g localhost/mcm/audio-custom-post-type/ archive. I have checked my taxonmoy and CPT settings no problem.

If I disable your plugin everything works 100% again.

    Does anybody else get this?

My local development setup as PHP5.4 not 5.3 as my live that is pretty much the only difference.

Which podPress version do you use?

    Version 8.8.10.15

Are you sure that you use the right URL? I’m only asking because in my blog the custom overview/archive page does not include the phrase “archive”. The URL is 127.0.0.1/wp/pod and not 127.0.0.1/wp/pod/archive.
(I have no problem opening this page and it does show all the custom post type posts.)

Do you get an error message when you open your custom post type archive page? (If none is visible then please search in the source code of the page or the error.log of your web server.)

    100% using the right URL.

Podpress OFF things work 100%. Podpres ON it breaks, i.e. Page not Found.

It is only for archives of custom post types.

I literally just refresh the page after deactivating the plugin.

Perhaps there is some oddity with my local dev. environment.

MCM have you tried to activate the Debug Mode of WordPress https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress ?
Maybe you could do this and open the custom post type page again. You will probably see a lot of “Deprecated” notices. You can ignore them. The question is: Are there any other PHP errors, warnings or notices? You may deactivate all other plugins (and switch to the default WP theme) before you activate the Debug Mode. That way you can be sure that the messages you will get are from podPress.

I took the risk and loaded it up on my live site, and it is doing the same thing. I will work through your last comment (debugging) and see whats what.

I am using the Types – Complete Solution for Custom Fields and Types on both my dev and live environments.

So, I visited the page with podpress off and it shows.

After activating podpress i get 404 and with the following message at the top of the page:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in D:\Websites\mcm\wp-includes\post-template.php on line 1275

Please help as my live site is effectively ineffective ??

I also did the following just an FYI:

    1. Switched off all plugins except – Types – Complete Solution for Custom Fields and Types – as I would not be able to see my custom posts without it on.

    2. Used a default theme

I recommend that you install podPress 8.8.10.13 in your live blog again.

There is something in the new podPress version which causes the problem. But the problem seems to appear only in connection with certain plugins or themes. In this case https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/custom-posts-broke something similar seems to happen. But I would like to keep both cases separated.

I can say so far that I use the Custom Post Type UI plugin in combination with the different default themes without problems.

However, there is a problem and I’m trying to find out what is causing it.
I may have further questions later.

Do you use this plugin Types – Custom Fields and Custom Post Types Management? (If you use a different plugin then please post a link.)

    (@nathmie)

    Yes, that is the plugin.

Okay. I can reproduce the problem.

I do use a special templates but there is nothing in particular elegant in theme, I just change labels and call basic functions.

    I use the /%postname%/ permalink.
