    Upgraded to 3.1.1
Before upgrade did back of DB and files. Also deactivated plugins.

Upgrade appeared to work without a problem.
    Reactivated plugins

However, an existing custom post type is not being recognized.
If I go to an entry in the custom post type and get the URL then paste the URL into the browser I get a 404 Page Not Found.
There are two entries in the custom post type and they both produce the same error.

Does anyone know if there are any known problems with custom post types in 3.1.1?
I looked around the forum but couldn’t see any reports of similar problems.
These custom posts were working fine under 3.0.1

What would be the best solution to fix the problem. I’m believe that my only option is to try a manual upgrade.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated since I’m at a loss to know what might cause this problem

    Thanks.

    Before trying manual update, try:

-deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the culprit.

-switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems (because the hooks remain unless plugins completely removed).

    Thanks for the feedback.

Your advice was right on. The plugin for the custom post UI was causing the problem. Now fixed and working.
