I have just created a custom post that seems to display fine when I am creating a new post of that type. However, I have two major problems:

    1. When I go to the post admin screen, the new post that I have created of the new type does not show at all.

    2. When I do a search for the newly created post from the user front end, it seems to find it but just displays the title of the post, not any of the content.

    I’m using the ColorMag theme.

    3. Is there any way to edit the appearance of the new post type (i.e. edit the template for that type) – I can’t seem to find any way of editing post format templates..?

I’m a complete newby, so any simple advice you can give would be really appreciated.

For item 1, you mean like it shows just empty fields as if you’re creating a new post? or if you mean the list of available posts, it’s not showing in that list?

For item 2, I’m having to believe that it’s something to do with the ColorMag theme/template files, and perhaps it not being developed to a specific point where post types are going to show well. Or perhaps there’s some sort of error occurring that’s preventing the rest of the content from showing as expected. Really hard for me to say.

For item 3, that’s going to be in the area of theme development and customization. I personally recommend a child theme so that you can safely edit files and still apply future updates for ColorMag if/when those get released.

    Firstly, thanks for responding.

For Item 1: It does appear in the list of available posts.

For Item 2: Is there something that might need to be manually added to the ColorMag theme files to allow custom post content to be shown?

    1. So it’s just not showing post information when trying to edit the given post?

    2. Not that I’m personally aware, but you’re more familiar with ColorMag than I am. Given that it also looks like it’s a premium theme, their support avenues will probably be more readily available to answer your questions than I am. Worth reaching out to them here.

    Hi Michael,

Sorry for my slow response.. things have been a bit hectic.

I need to remove the plugin from my instance and I have been able to deactivate it, but there is no option to actually delete it on the plugin admin screen. Do I need to do something specific to be able to fully remove it (including removing it from the admin menu)?

Should be deletable and removable like any other run of the mill plugin. We didn’t do anything to make it difficult to move away from CPTUI.

Is your site here a multisite? If yes, then you would probably need to go to the network admin section to actually delete.
