• Hello,

It seems that I cannot figure out how to display the products on every category in the custom order. Even I can reorder them properly within WooCommerce dashboard, it still displays the default one. I have tried several techniques and also some 3rd party solutions, but nothing seems to work properly.

Will appreciate any kind of help!

    Thank you,

    Micwie

I have tried these techniques: changing menu order value, dragging the products within woocommerce dashboard and several PHP codes. None of them did the job.

    Hello,

Go to Customize > Woocommerce > Archive and find the select an option from the Default product sorting dropdown.

Select Default sorting from here and then arrange the product from the Woocommerce dashboard. Check it works or not.

Hello. This option was selected since the beginning of the development and apparently did not make any difference.

That’s strange. Try to switch to the default wordpress theme temporarily and check it works or not.

    Hi,

I did a couple of screenshot from the woocommerce dash and the website itself – you can check them here. From there you can actually see that e.g. the category “Furniture” has a different sorting within the dashboard as on the actual page.

    Regarding switching the theme:
    a) Which theme should I choose? Which one is default? Twenty Seventeen?
    b) if I switch back to OceanWP then, everything will look the same, right? I have the backups for the worst case, but I want to make sure that switching will not make any changes to the appearance.

Try to create a staging site and test the issue there. Switch to storefront or twenty nineteen themes to check the issue. There should be no problem with the switching theme.

    Hello,

Tried Seventeen theme and it looks the same as with OceanWP.

    CHECK IT HERE

Maybe there is something I do wrong within the WooCommerce dashboard?

That’s strange. It means it is not theme related issue. Please try to contact the Woocommerce support also? Maybe they know why it is not working.

    Hello,

This is really strange. Everything within the dashboard works. When the custom order is enabled, I am able to change the order on the sorting tab, but it does not affect the actual archive.

I have contacted WooCommerce support and tested everything what I have could. Even default theme (Twenty) with WooCommerce plugin only (the rest was switched off) did not help at this case.

What is strange is that any other sorting option within the customize / woocommerce / archive also does not affect the way how the products are shown.

    Any idea?

Maybe I am just missing something within the WooCommerce settings? Or database?

I don’t know why it is not working. Is your PHP version up to date -PHP7?

    Thread Starter micwie

    (@micwie)

Yes. Checked with my provider – we are on PHP 7.2

WooCommerce support things that the issue is not on their side.

That is strange, as that definitely should work to order things based on your needs.

This is most-likely caused by a theme or plugin conflict, and you can troubleshoot that by following the information here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-self-service-guide/#section-4

    Hello,

As we discussed, it also doesn’t work with a default wordpress theme. So it may be a plugin conflict. Try to disable all the plugin except woocommerce + ocean extra and check it works or not.
Install Health Check plugin to troubleshoot the issue also.

All plugins except WooCommerce and Ocean Extra swtiched off.

Archive still displays the products in the alphabetical order, regarding my sorting I did in the dashboard (see screenshots).

So now we can also exclude the plugin / theme conflict?

Is there maybe something I am missing in the settings?

Is this normal that also other “sorting” options does not work for me?

No, it is not a plugin/theme conflict because it doesn’t work with other themes too. Okay, try to install a fresh wordpress with default wordpress theme locally on your system or on your testing server and check custom order is working there or not. If it doesn’t work, then it could be a bug with custom product order in the plugin.
