Custom Product taxonomy archive 404

I’ve added a custom post type Taxonomy of “artist” to woocommerce products. Everything works fine, the taxonomy shows on the product and in the menu no problems. However when I go to :
mysite.com/artist/john-doe I get a 404. I’ve tried everything and there doesn’t seem to be much help when I google the problem.

Am I trying to do the impossible?
