Custom rating images lost on plugin upgrade

I mentioned this a couple of years ago without a response, but I see you’re replying to a lot of threads now and making updates to plugins so hopefully you can consider it ??

The plugin allows for custom ratings images by uploading them to the plugin folder. Every time you release a minor upgrade, these are lost and need to be reuploaded to prevent broken images throughout the site.

Are you able to rework this to either use a filter for adding custom images, or first check the theme directly for an image folder before the plugin directory like several other plugins do, or anything that will work longer term?
