First time to try this plugin.
So far, you have something really going for you with this plugin, especially providing Custom Settings for the Forms.

In the Contact Form I created, using the default template, in “Edit Form > Appearance”, the following custom section settings do not work at all:

    • Colors
    • Fonts
    • Form Container
    • Custom CSS

The “Design Style” section does work.

As a note, in the Custom CSS section, when I click the basic selector button: “Form”, all it inserts are a pair of curly brackets {}, nothing else. The other basic selector buttons do insert the respective property name along with the curly brackets, but despite that, the Custom CSS section of the plugin does not work at all.

If I use Additional CSS in the theme customizer, that works fine with the form, but this should not be needed if the plugin provides its own Custom CSS method.

    — Tests —
I did the plugins deactivation and switched to the WordPress default theme twenty-nineteen, there was no difference, the issue remains.

I purged the server cache and browser cache each time I changed the custom settings, it made no difference, the issue remains.

    — Any Fix? —
Anything I can do to fix this?

    Hi @lospeso,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

As a note, in the Custom CSS section, when I click the basic selector button: “Form”, all it inserts are a pair of curly brackets {}, nothing else.

This is expected behaviour, you just need to add the custom CSS that you need to apply on the form inside those brace pairs (curly brackets), the CSS will work.

I am a bit confused about the actual issues that you are experiencing, is that none of the custom CSS that you add under the Appearance tab is not working? Can you please share an export of the form so that we can take a closer look at the issue?

Please share the form export using cloud storage like Google Drive or DropBox. Please find more details here: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#import-export

    Kind Regards,

The issues are the settings for the form do not work.

When I created the form (blank selection) and added in the field via the list, the form as created (default settings) works fine. It checks the inputs correctly, shows error inputs accordingly, and sends the message.

Appearance Settings – It is when I try to customize the form, such as border color, background colors, etc, the settings in the form edit accepts the changes and previews correctly, but when I press the update button, the changes do not appear on the actual form. The form remains as the default layout, coloring, etc. Even when I clear the server cache, clear the browser cache and even hit “CTRL + F5” for a hard browser reload, the form remains the same, unchanged.

Note: I tested the form in a page created by the WordPress block editor and in another page using the Classic editor, the same results. Trying to edit the appearance of the form does not work.

Forminator Custom CSS – The same issue. Using the “Form” inset, the curly brackets alone with any CSS properties and values, there is no change on the actual form. The preview works and shows the change, but not on the actual form.

I also tried inserting the forms ID name in the plugin Custom CSS, same problem, and the plugin Custom CSS does not work. Even using CSS !important has no effect.

Only the theme’s custom CSS (Additional CSS) works to modify the form.

    Hi @lospeso

I am afraid the URL is protected, could you please make it public?

Can you verify if it isn’t an HTTP error?

if the website loads from HTTPS but the WordPress > Settings are configured to HTTP the browser will block the request, double check the URL configuration and make sure it is configured to HTTPS.

    Best Regards

    @wpmudevsupport12 (Patrick).

Good job, it was the HTTP/HTTPS that blocked the plugin from working completely, in regards to changing settings, appearance, etc.

I tested the plugin on a different site where the HTTPS was set throughout the site and all worked fine.

What I had that did not work with the plugin, was a test site (sub-folder install) and the HTTPS was not set for the it. Now that this HTTPS/HTTP can be an issue with some plugins, as yours, I will ensure the test site has full HTTPS.

No need for the exported text file now.

    Thanks.
