custom short code

I’m just getting back into wordpress after a number of year hiatus so bear with me if this is really easy…

I just want to have a custom short code to wrap about my book title. That way if I change the design of the website I can change the formatting of the title wherever it is written on the site to match the new site colours.

Is there a faq/tutorial that shows how to create our own short code?
