The custom sidebar plugin works great, except that I am not able to select the custom sidebar for this archive page. When I made a Custom Sidebar and go to “Sidebar location” and choose “For Archives”, it is only the content in the first tab “Archive Types” that is visible. There is no change when I press the other two tabs, “Category Archives” or “Authors”, it still display the same list below, which only select archives sidebar based on author. I use the Enfold theme and the latest WordPress version and the Chrome browser.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @audunbk,

It’s most likely something causing a conflict in the backend that doesn’t allow you to switch tabs, when you change the tab it should show the change in list.
For example, on Archives tab first item should be As Sidebar for selected Archive Types but if you switch to Authors it should be As Sidebar for selected Author Archives.

Can you disable your other plugins and switch to default WP theme to see if the tab switching works after that?
If it does, try enabling them one by one until you find the one that’s causing the issue.

Let us know how it goes.

The Enfold Theme seems to be the problem here @audunbk – I run the same setup with Enfold, and have the same problem :/ Switched theme to 2019 and it all works.

If it’s the way the Enfold Theme handles sidebars or if it’s something in the plugin is difficult to say, but since Enfold has it’s own custom sidebar setup-system my guess would be it’s something about the way Enfold handles sidebars or something in the enfold code that messes this up.

It did not work even if I disabled all other plugins. I contacted Enfold support to ask if they could do something to make the theme compatible with the plugin, but if I interpret their answer correctly they suggest the modification should be done by the plugin developer. I am still thankful for the plugin, which works great except for the archive pages.

    Hello @audunbk,

Did they maybe suggest what modification needs to be done on our side? I can see the issue with Enfold theme enabled. I will report this to the developer of Custom Sidebars, however, it might be not possible to fix this on our side.

    kind regards,
    Kasia
