Hello, I need an answer to this question from the original poster:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/custom-sidebar-for-category-pages/

It seems that the solution provided:
“Select “As Widget Area for selected Category Archives” and add the category below as it is shown in the attached screenshot”

This option “As Widget Area for selected Category Archives” does not exist, and I cannot see the screen shot. Another posted also followed up saying that option doesn’t exist.

The question was answered “For your question, when you click any sidebar option you should see the categories text field.”

But there is nothing that says “categories text field”.

Will you please advise how to show a sidebar on category / blog list?

    Tom

  • Hello @guytimes ,

In this description Widget Area is the name of your sidebar. So if sidebar name is Sidebar it will say ” As Sidebar for selected Category Archives “. Like on my screenshot:

So in Widgets click on custom sidebar Sidebar Location, then in popup select For Archives, then tab Category Archives and then select the sidebar and select the names of categories.

    kind regards,

Thank you for your reply, but I tried that. I’m using the widget area plugin to display breadcumbs on my site. It works on each post, but it doesn’t work when you go to https://www.website.com/categoryname

You can see the problem here.
    https://www.awesomedoodle.com/considering-aussiedoodle-puppy/

“considering-aussiedoodle-puppy”” is a category, not a page or post.

If you click any post in this category, the sidebar shows up fine. If you just click the category, it doesn’t show up.

Is there a way to make it show up on a category?

    Tom

    Hello @guytimes

Regardless of everything else, the template that’s used for a given page (by “page” I mean here any page – may it be page, post, post archive, category archive (category posts list) or any other) must actually support sidebaars in the first place.

The only sidebar (or, “widget area”) that I can see on this page

    https://www.awesomedoodle.com/considering-aussiedoodle-puppy/

when I’m checking source code is in footer.

However, I admit I’m actually confused now. I can see breadcrumbs there, similar to any posts that I enter from there. What am I missing?

Would you mind sharing screenshots of the related configuration of Custom Sidebars (related to this conversation) that you actually tried on your site, please?

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

sorry that I am text here, but have a problem. When creating custom sidebar, and insert in the page, then not showing widget title normal, only small text. This is only happening with a custom widget when creating.

    How can I fix it?

    Hello @regis999

I trust you are doing well!

Thank you for posting in this thread, however, because this issue is resolved for the original author that has posted it, please create a new one. This way, the author will not be getting email notifications each time when there is a new post in the thread.

Please add a link to the page with the issue that you have sp we could check the CSS code.

    Kind regards,
    Nastia
