I was referred to this solutions post by the CPT UI team.

I am looking to assistance in establishing a custom taxonomy on my website in order to create a page with a filter using metadata terms as part of an overall taxonomy on the website. The page would serve as an index with the filter providing results (recipe picture, clickable image, clickable title link, and short description.

I am aware that there are several recipe plugins out there and have considered using them, but I spoke with a company for Tasty Recipes and they don’t allow custom taxonomy. Nor do they all tagging of posts using a custom taxonomy. I want to establish my own and implement it.

Additionally, I am trying to create a custom post with a specific layout, so plugins out there don’t fit my needs. The filter/taxonomy would would with the custom posts created by a custom post template.

I am a solutions designer and developer and would like to have someone walk me through how to develop the above solution, if possible.

    Thank you,
    Valeria

Not quite exactly what to suggest here, to be honest. CPTUI is only going to be a small portion of the work and effort needed here. We’ll be able to help with the registration of the content types, but the rest is going to be up to yourself or others on the project.

From what you’ve provided thus far, there’s going to be a fair amount of theme/template customization to implement. Typically when I hear filtering, my first inclination is https://facetwp.com/ as a solution. It’s going to do a huge amount of the heavy lifting for you, as opposed to a custom solution.

Thank you for your thoughts and advice!!

So you think that I should create the taxonomy using the CPTUI, create an index page, and apply the FaceTWP plugin on the page for the filter based on the taxonomy created using the CPTUI plugin.

Then, my recipes could be put on individual posts using a custom post. And will I be able to apply the CPTIU terms to each post and the FaceTWP filter will show the recipes on the index page afterward?

Not going to say that that’s for sure going to be the end solution for your needs, but it sounds like a decent start to work with.
