• I’m testing using custom page templates according to the “snarfer.php”: example here. I have one stand alone WP 2.7 install where it works as advertised. If I follow the same instructions on another install, I do not see the option for custom templates in the sidebar for page editing, only in the Quick/edit, but the only option that appears is “default.”

Is it the case that certain themes do not allow for custom page templates? What is it in the theme that either allows or disallows for this add-on functionality?

    thanks!

    Chuck

  • Sometimes it is necessary to switch to the WordPress Default theme, then back to ‘your’ theme to make the Templates appear when Adding/Editing Pages.

I just wanted to note that I had this problem, and switching to the default and back worked as MichaelH said. I read this on other threads and it was confusing because I thought they were saying that you just had to use a different theme, which wouldn’t have worked for me.
