Custom Templates for Full Posts

I’ve got the plugin running now on a site and I use it to feed News Posts to show just headlines on the front page, a custom news center on another page, and then full posts elsewhere. Everything is working great and your plugin has been a lifesaver.

Now I need to do the same thing for different events I want to post on the site. I want to have a page show the event headline (like in my example above) on a page, and when clicked a full post page would appear with all of the event information.

I’ve been reading here about how to use a ‘custom posts_loop_template.php’ file to customize the look, and had success with it for the intermediary page (news center) in my news example above, but not in this case.

I may be over-thinking this, but the problem is, the full post page is using single.php, and I don’t want my events post page to have the same look as my news post page.

How do I have these posts point to a different template, or version of ‘single.php’?
