Custom Theme and front page
-
Hi , I hope my question makes sense .
So , I have been learning developing themes on my own for some time . I wanted to implement whatever I ‘ve learned all this while by creating a working theme . I have a static template that I am converting to a theme . The HTML template has a static front page and not a blog feed as the front page .
I was going through some of the themes that are available in WP and the themes upon installation looks very different from the official WP screenshot and the official theme link . Most themes in the screenshot shows a front page but when I install them I only see the blog feed and the generic page templates in action . I cannot find the actual front page as shown in the screenshot in the official repo .For eg there is this theme called Mediclean whose demo and the screenshot appears to have a static front page .However , on downloading the theme I could not find any template file specifically for the front page .
So my question is as a theme developer do you include the front page’s ( or any other static pages’s ) template file or do you expect the theme users to code their own static pages ?
Are there any theme with static page templates in the WP repo that I could look into to ?- This topic was modified 5 years, 4 months ago by . Reason: Moved to Fixing WordPress, this is not a Developing with WordPress topic
