Custom types and fields dissapear

  • Hi,

    I have a bug that happened for me 3 times already, but I could not say what the trigger was.

    In fact, one day to another, all custom types & fields have disappeared. The things I might have done at each time was updating the uploads/ folder with newer content, though my custom fields configuration files in uploads/cctm never have been deleted.

    And every custom field disappeared too, even the standard ones.

    Hopefully, I found out you can export all definitions for backup or migration purpose.

    It’s just scary that I don’t know why and when it could happen again, if you have any directions you can point me, thank you.

    I’ve gotten random reports of this behavior from some users, so there is something that causes it, but I have never been able to duplicate it, so I have been unable to fix it. It probably has nothing to do with moving files: most of the CCTM stuff happens in the database. Files are just used for formatting or backup storage, so they do not trigger a database interaction on their own. My guess is that it may be something to do with UTF8 characters and json_encode()… I’ve noticed some weird caveats with that function… it could be that some servers are handling it differently than others.

    If you can help figure out how to reproduce the problem consistently, then I’d love to get this fixed.
