Hi, I’ve been struggling with this for a few days already, so I thought I’d reach out for help.

I made a custom UM role, gave it the exact same permissions as the WP author. As you can see in the screenshots, if I update the post via the “all posts” list, I can select that custom user as author.

But that it just apparent, cause when I go inside that post and edit it, that user has no author capabilities.

I’m using the “user role editor” to give the same capabilities, even the deprecated ones.

I can confirm that the UM user has no actual author capabilities, since I can not edit that post with the user.
Tried this in 3 sites in different servers and a sandbox with no other plug ins.

    Any clues?
    Thanks!

Ok… I made it work, but not sure exactly how yet.
I will be posting the answer shortly, so I don’t waste anyone’s time.

Well to answer my own question… for some strange reason when you go inside and edit a particular post, the custom roles made with UM are not shown and not selectable to be the author.
But in the general post list, when you check the box and select edit, then you can, and it works fine.
