    Hi awesome multisite peeps,

SO, please tell me if I’m crazy or if this is a great idea that will totally work. Not too concerned with the how, but more the if-I-should.

I’m running a multisite install using Buddypress. I’ve already stripped out /blog/ from my urls – works great.

NOW, we are playing with the idea of ADDING a faux subdirectory into our urls in order to create segmentation and an easier way to track who’s doing what – ie distinguishing traffic on the main site from that of the secondary sites.

The idea was to add something like /magazine/ to the main site (instead of blog), and /network/ before all secondary sites, to tie them together…

What do you think? Will it work? Or will it break everything and be a nightmare?

Your expertise would be most appreciated.
    best,
    -jennyb

PS: I am wrong to say that “I’m not concerned with the how” – not true. Any advice on the how is also much appreciated. I imagine it will be a simple htaccess rewrite, tho it’d be great to find a way to automate it for sub-sites…otherwise will be a pain to write a new rule for each one…

It’s only a nightmare because, today, WP doesn’t let you change the slug.

    On the other hand…

    Install in domain.com

Make a subsite called /magazine/ and use that.

Then make another subsite called /network/ and install a Multi Network plugin to allow all subsites be created from there.

    Thanks for the idea!
