• Hello everyone,

I’m currently in talks with a client who’s looking to move his site over to wordpress. He has a rather interesting request that I was hoping I could get a little help in addressing.

He has a 3rd party payment system for his users to pay their bill online. The way this system works is the client logs into the website, then they click the “payment” button. Once on the payment page they need to enter in their account number then the site kicks them over to the 3rd party payment page.

Here’s where things get interesting. He’s received feedback from his users saying it would be nice if the page could display their account number.

What we talked about is if it’s possible to setup a custom field on user registration where users could enter their account number then when they click the “payment” button, the page would display their entered account number. It would be ideal if the “account number” text field was able to auto-populate with their account number but simply displaying it on the page would work too.

I’m not sure where to start here with this so any suggestions on plugins that might be able to do this would be awesome. We’re still in the planning phase of this site so there’s no site to look at yet but I’d really like to build the site with this functionality included.

Thanks in advance! I really appreciate the input on this one.

Well looks like I got my client to go ahead with using WordPress for his new site. Still hoping to get some input on how to do this user account modification.

    Hello Nocktis,

As far as custom user fields there are a couple options you guys could choose from.

BuddyPress is a decent option that is supported by Automattic, but it may be more than you actually need.

There are other alternatives you can find from this search

Finally if you are doing a commerce sight have you looked into the options from WooCommerce?

    Hope these help,
    Kevin

    Hello Kpudlo,

Thanks for the reply. Buddy Press came with the template we’re using so I’ll look into that. As for commerce, we won’t be processing the transactions on our site, the user will get kicked over to a 3rd party payment gateway.

I appreciate the input, thank you! As mentioned before, I’ll give Buddy Press a try and see how that goes.
