• I realize this is a “Pro” question, but I’m hoping someone with experience customizing user roles may be able to offer some insight…

I am attempting to create a custom role in which users can enter scores for their home games, and nothing else. Finding documentation on the many variables offered has proven difficult, and I’ve yet to find the right combination of capabilities that will accommodate this role.

For example, I’ve been able to restrict event visibility to the user’s home games, however they still have the ability to delete the events, as well as edit other event info, such as title and date (I ONLY want them to enter scores). Alternately, I’ve been able to lock-down event editing, however in doing so I lose the visibility restrictions (they see ALL events), and are unable to modify any details, including the score.

If anyone can guide me to some detailed documentation on the specific user capabilities and their functions, I’d greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks in advance,

    K

    Hi!

    Thanks for getting in touch!

In your case I believe the best way to do it is creating a new interface (or even a new admin page) just for that. This way you can remove any capabilities WP usually gives to users and allow them to only enter scores

@rochesterj Thank you for the suggestion.

I’ve looked (briefly) into admin interface edits specifically for SportsPress (“Quick-Edit” is removed from events when certain capabilities are assigned), and it seems to be a bit beyond my comfort level. That being said, it’s an angle I hadn’t considered for this purpose, so I’ll have to re-visit.

    Cheers,

    K
