Custom Validation on Two Seperate Registration Forms

I have two registration forms, one for employees and the other for public. Both need different validations on the form. ex. employee form validation needs to validate company email. public form needs to validate on account number. Is this possible? I’ve tried using um_submit_form_errors_hook_ with no success.
