Customer can add product to cart without selecting a variant

I am working on my WooCommerce site and I just noticed that customers can add a product to their cart without selecting a variant.

I replicated the issue but going to a t-shirt product page. When the customer lands on the page the variants are already chosen to a random combination of color and a size.

So a customer is able to add to cart without choosing a variant for themselves. Once that product is added in the cart the product shows but with no variant associated with it.

I am assuming the issue is because customers are not being forced to select their own variants when they land on a product page because there are already variants selected.

My question is how can I have the variant options at “none” there for forcing the customer to chose a color and size before adding to their cart. I think that will fix my problem. If not, is there another solution anyone can think of?
