I am trying to work out why Customer emails from our shop are not including a link to download the product. It is currently happening to a lot of our customers.

I’ve tested it when logged in to the site via WordPress admin page and the email seems to send with the links. This is to my business email address.

I have also tested it when logged out of the site and I dont even receive an email to my hotmail account.

Customers have said that they receive an email but there are no links to download the products in the email.

Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

    thanks

I have also looked at all customer orders in the Woocommerce orders section, it seems that no download permissions are being granted in the last month. Before then it all seems fine.

    Howdy,

Thanks for reaching out- this is very strange, indeed.

Do you remember making any changes to the site right before this started happening? Any plugin updates or installs? It’s possible that this is being caused by a plugin conflict, but it would be difficult to test for if you cannot reproduce it. One thing you could try is to install WP Mail Logging to see what emails are being sent, and you can also view the content of what’s being sent to your customers.

The key is to gather more information and see how you can reproduce this. Once that can consistently happen, it will be easier to track down the culprit. Hopefully this plugin will help you gather more data and gather context.

    thanks for the reply.

I have tried to gather as much information as possible from customers as well as our own tests.

The problem seems to be that when i look in the order details, there is nothing in the download permissions. Usually you would see the product in the order plus the amount of times it has been downloaded.

I am able to regenerate download permissions and this then adds the missing information to the section, but obviously this is not ideal as customers have already been sent an email which does not contain any links to download in it.

I am still having problems with this.

Update on what i have found:

    – No download permissions are being generated in the backend when the order has been made.

    – The automatic customer email that is sent out when the order is placed does not include any links to download.

    – I go into the customers order in the backend and regenerate download permissions. These links do not work when I send them to the customer as they say – “No Path Defined – Go To Shop”.

    Hi again,

How does this behave with just Storefront theme and WooCommerce active? It’s possible that this could be caused by a theme or plugin conflict. To test for this, you’d want to take the following steps: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-self-service-guide/

I know you said that you do not receive emails as a logged out customer. Does the WP Logging extension show that the emails were at least sent?

Let us know how testing goes with just the default setup!

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply,

When I deactivate all the plugins the site does not display at all, it just shows some errors:

Deprecated: Function create_function() is deprecated in /var/sites/t/thestresshacker.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/storefront-blank-child-theme/functions.php on line 27

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /var/sites/t/thestresshacker.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/storefront-blank-child-theme/functions.php:27) in /var/sites/t/thestresshacker.com/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1251

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /var/sites/t/thestresshacker.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/storefront-blank-child-theme/functions.php:27) in /var/sites/t/thestresshacker.com/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1254

therefore i can not test with all the plugins turned off,

    thanks

Currently i have tried the following:

    – Test orders sent to my email address (30+ testing different variations of active plugins and themes) – Emails are being sent and received but no download permission has been granted in the orders section in the backend of the site, therefore no link to the audio file appears in the customer email.

NOTE: Download links do appear for things such as jpg covers.

    – Different themes – I have tried using the 2019 theme as well as Storefront theme (usually using Storefront child theme)

    – Overwriting Woocommerce plugin files via fileZilla.

The only thing left would be to upgrade our hosting package which could be an issue due to the size of the site?

    thanks

I have now also tried a rollback to version 3.7.0 which seems to be the last time the order permissions seemed to generate. Unfortunately it has not solved the problem.
