I am using the default Woocomerce “My Account” page setup for customers to log in. This creates a field under a “Register” section on the “My Account” page for the customer to input their email, to get a password and login details.

However, when a user inputs their email to receive a password to create an account, it brings them straight into the “Your Account Page”. It does not send the customer an email. What am I missing – do I need a plugin to enable a password and login details to be sent or should Woocomerce be able to handle this on its own?

    Hi @pauline6112,

    Thank you for reaching out.

WooCommerce should be able to handle the process of sending the password and login details to the customer’s email on its own, without the need for an additional plugin.

If the emails are not being sent, there are a few things you might want to check in your WooCommerce settings section:

    1. Firstly, please ensure that you have the “Enable customer registration on the ‘My account’ page” option checked. You can find this under WooCommerce > Settings > Accounts & Privacy.
    2. Check your WooCommerce email settings. Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Emails. Make sure that the “New Account” email is enabled and correctly configured.
    3. Ensure that your hosting provider is not blocking outgoing emails. Some hosting providers may have restrictions on sending emails. You can use a plugin like this one to see if emails are getting sent out.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

Thank you for replying to my question. I am glad to learn that WooCommerce does not need a plugin to handle the process of sending passwords and login details. I like to keep things simple.

I have carried out all the checks you suggested, and the registration is still not working (the emails are enabled, and I have not interfered with the default settings).

Can you suggest what else I could try?

    Hey @pauline6112 ,

Can you navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → Accounts & Privacy and make sure that the “Send password setup link (recommended)” option is enabled:

If this looks good, can you clarify if other email types (i.e, New order, etc.) are being received? If not, this type of behavior is generally narrowed down to the email service provider, or the email address.

Can you try using an SMTP provider and see if this resolves the issue? The support guide below provides some suggested providers:

Additionally, I would also encourage you to check our Email FAQ which is a great resource to narrow down what could be causing this behavior.

Let us know how this goes!
