In doing a test, I discovered that when someone asks for a password reset because they lost their password, it brings them to a WordPress login screen. Is that what’s supposed to happen? Are they being brought to MY login screen, or are they being required to set up their own WP account in order to reset their password? Either way, this isn’t an acceptable solution. Is that how it’s supposed to work?

  • The way your site is working is correct.

So in other words, the customer needs to have a WordPress account in order to reset their password?

No, the Customer, if Registering will Register at that My Account page. Once they do they’ll be sent info regarding the account. If they want they can change their password in the Lost Password and inside their Account in your store. Two ways to essentially do that. They do not ever need a WordPress account to sign up or to shop.

I just registered a new account with a different email address that’s never been used on my website, and in a browser I never used WP on. Still got the same result — going to a WP login screen.

You mean this screen right here?

When I go I start here

I then hit Lost Password and I get sent here

If you’re seeing the first screenshot then you have a redirect somewhere or a security plugin that’s redirecting you or whoever. I haven’t had that problem though.

Also, make sure you’re clearing cache. I know you said you used a browser and what have you but sometimes it’s cache.

    Yes to the images.

I just had my daughter, who lives in a different state, create an account and try to reset the password. IT worked beautifully for her.

So bottom line is it IS a cache problem somewhere.

    Thanks for all the help!

Man I totally forgot. That as an Admin you’re always going to get sent back to WP Admin. Customers/Users won’t. Sorry that I drew a blank on that. So you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

The thing is, when I tested it, I signed up with an email address that wasn’t associated with the WP account, which is why I’m sure it was a cache issue.

It’s most likely a cookie issue. That’s why you’re being brought back to Admin. I can assure you though that others are being sent back to my-account page.
