Customers can’t complete transactions

Hi,
We’re experiencing an issue where some customers are unable to complete the checkout process. They fill in the long number and the expiry details on the checkout and hit place order button but then the process fails somehow and they get no option to enter their 3 digit number.
This only happens some users but it happens frequently. I can’t replicate it when testing with my own card. Any help much appreciated!
