    Hi @mrbens ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you are facing issues with customers seeing other customers details in checkout.

I have gone through your checkout process and am unable to reproduce your issue:

Please could you let me know if you have attempted checkout through a private browser, and if so, what the outcome was?

I have seen this issue in the forum a couple of times – but they topic is now closed.

Before providing further steps, could you clarify whether you have followed any of the recommended steps within the threads you have mentioned?

    Please let me know!

    Hi @mrbens

I understand that other customers’ details are populating at the checkout page, though I could not reproduce this when I tried making an order on your site, could you double-check with your host that they have excluded your cart and checkout pages from their serve cache, as this is often the main cause.

A second suggestion would be to disable any caching plugin that you may have installed, and see if it works.

Hi there, this isn’t a persistent issue – we cant replicate it on private browsing or normal browsing – seems to only happen to some people.

We have asked our host (WPEngine) to double check that all cache exclusions have been saved and applied. This has now happened so will be keeping an eye on this going forward.

Hopefully, this has fixed it – but it’s more of a hope as the exclusions were set a couple of days ago – but maybe there wasn’t an application or maybe hadn’t been saved. I’ll open this again if it occurs again.

    Hi @mrbens ,

    Thanks for the update.

Please do reach out if the issue reoccurs ??

    Best,

    Hello,

Hopefully, this has fixed it – but it’s more of a hope as the exclusions were set a couple of days ago – but maybe there wasn’t an application or maybe hadn’t been saved. I’ll open this again if it occurs again.

If this happens again please provide us with more information, If so I recommend creating a new thread.

    Thank you.

    Hi @mrbens ,

Did you have any success in resolving this problem? We have also had website customers reporting this issue and we’re also using WPEngine. WPEngine have excluded cart/checkout urls from being cached, but it has happened again since. We haven’t been able to replicate it.

Are you using a cart abandonment plugin? One possibility we’re thinking of is the checkout page is getting cached after a customer has used a cart abandonment link.

    Hey @mrbens

Kindly create a new thread so that your issue can be looked at individually.

Hi @wi11 – we havent had the issue mentioned again – so “hoping” it was fixed – we actually escalated it to a senior support person at WPEngine and they double checked it – so maybe worth escalating to a senior support enginneer at WPEngine to check.

Thanks for the reply, we have been talking with WPEngine, will try to get to a senior support person.

We have been having same issue at wpengine on off all year, but last month is been a lot (increased traffic.) We have these exclusion and it doesn’t help! It was without issue most of the year actually but since October it started again. We might get a dedicated server and disable their caching.

We think we might have found the issue that was causing this problem for us. it had to do with the Varnish cache used by WPEngine and the MailChimp plugin. MailChimp was using the WooCommerce session to store tracking information when a product page was viewed and Varnish was caching the cookie and sending it back to other visitors. Disabling the MailChimp plugin fixed it for us.

We’ve had the same issues with multiple client sites for months but couldn’t uncover the problem.

After discussing the issue with all parties involved: WP Engine, WooCommerce, and MailChimp, we learned directly from MailChimp that they DO NOT support sites hosted on WP Engine due to how WP Engine handles caching. Furthermore, they have no intention of resolving the issue. @wi11 is 100% correct, and their post above was a breakthrough for us.

We currently use WP WooCommerce MailChimp by Saint Systems (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-mailchimp/) to replace the MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin by MailChimp.

In conversation with Saint Systems, they confirmed that their plugin works with WP Engine hosted sites. Here’s what they said.

Our plugin works fine with WPEngine. That’s where our sites are hosted.
    ?
However, our plugin does not fully replace all eCommerce tracking functionality of the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin. Our plugin is primarily designed for adding customers to specific lists, tags, groups based on products purchased.
    ?
We are considering adding full eCommerce tracking support because of the issues many customers have faced with the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin, but that would be a future update.

    Hi, @wearestructure

This is interesting. We appreciate that.

If you have any further questions, feel free to create a separated thread here.

We’ve had the same problem happening on and off, throughout this year, on several of our client’s websites. We’ve been back and forth with WP Engine’s support who each time blamed other caching plugins and systems like WP Rocket or CloudFlare. Then once we’d removed those and the problem persisted, their support just kept pointing to custom “Cache Exclusions” for WooCommerce pages, even though the default Woo pages are already set in their default cache exclusions list and we have not changed urls for the pages.

This post and the answers by @wi11?and @wearestructure have been an absolute break through for us. Thanks!

I still find it incredible how WP Engine support aren’t aware of the fact that the “MailChimp for WooCommerce” plugin isn’t compatible with Varnish Caching. I’m still waiting to hear back from my account manager as to why this plugin hasn’t been added to their banned plugin list.

Hopefully if more people point out this issue to WP Engine support, they might do something more about the issue.
