• Dear Ocean WP team,

I’m trying to restore a site after a hack, but none of the customisation settings seem to be working. I can get everything to look right within the customisation panel, but as soon as I click publish, the customisation panel restores everything to defaults, and nothing saves on the live site. Cannot even get the theme to display menus, or to hide page titles. I’m not sure what’s going wrong — I get no error message or anything. But it retains no information I add.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Kaitlin

  • Hello,

Kindly make the changes in the customizer, click on the gear icon near publish button and select the option published, then try to publish the changes and check.

If not resolved with the above, kindly share the snapshots of the changes that you are making in the customizer but not reflecting on the page.

    Hi Abhishek,

Thanks, but that didn’t work… I’d already been publishing things, but the problem is that publishing doesn’t take ??

See here how it should look: https://ibb.co/B261qLp… Note it says “published”. The logo is centred, the tagline appears, and the menu appears below the logo. Also the giant title telling you it’s the home page is hidden.

And here’s how it looks on the live site: https://ibb.co/ZSgpnYt. Giant “home” title, no menu (so site can’t be navigated at all), logo is off to the side, and tagline disappears.

I’ve tried getting changes to take multiple times on 3 different web browsers and I’m not sure what’s going wrong.

    Any help is appreciated.

Not sure why the link above got broken but it’s correct before the & sign: https://ibb.co/B261qLp.

Some more strangeness that might shed some light: it seems to be specifically “publish” that does not work. If I save a draft and share a preview of what that saved draft would look like, that works fine. But as soon as I hit “publish” everything gets erased and restored to defaults.

    Hi Ocean team,

Any ideas on this? It’s now more than 5 days the site is unusable because customisation needed to add menus and other navigation is broken.

    Thanks,
    Kaitlin

I apologize for the delay in response.
That is really odd. Please enable the debug log, after enabling the log to perform the steps to replicate the issue and share the generated debug log to check the issue.

In addition, Would you be so kind and go to Elementor > System Info and share the report with us so that we can take a look?
