• I have some questions on customising the twenty eleven theme. I’m not sure whether it would be preferred for these questions to be asked in separate posts to make them easy to find by others with the same queries. If so, could someone who knows about these things pls let me know, and I will be happy to re-post each query separately.

So, to the queries, which I’ll enumerate in order of most interest to me, and for the sake of clarity and convenience.

    1. I want to make the tags that appear at the end of each post invisible. Is this easily doable, pls?

    2. Can I easily decrease the size of the header (especially the depth)?

    3. Can I get rid of the blog title and subtitle from the top of the
page and ‘float’ (superimpose) it over a customised header image?

    4. Alternatively, could I make the whole header a clickable link, and ‘hide’ the blog title, while still having it there so search engines can continue to pick it up?

    5. Can I reduce the depth of the white area above the header? Or get rid of it entirely?

    6. Is it easily possible to move the ‘Search’ box down so it is ‘floating’ (superimposed) over the header – say, in the top right corner?

    7. Can I get rid of the Comment bubble and just have a text link (eg: ‘Add a Comment’ or ‘Reply’) next to the blog post date?

    Cheers all
    Ross

  • Boom! Done! You are genius and that was fun. Thanks so much for your help — I feel like a web wizard. ??

Great post, I am trying to add an address line and phone number, etc. maybe a map link to locator. All to the right of the site title above the header (to make use of the white space above the header) w/out affecting the site title as it is by default. Would like to achieve by adding to child theme css. I thought it would be a simple and common query but have found no info, except to replace title w/ logo, remove, reduce, etc.

Regarding the Twenty-Eleven upgrade. I seem be experiencing a glitch.

It appears that the Tiki favicon has taken over my website’s favicon. I originally had used plugin enetitled All in One icons. Also, all my files .ico, .png are not working. Getting either blank icons or red x placeholders.

I went into the child them, and header .php and added some code. Also uploaded the favicons to my root directory, but still not getting back my favicons.

I don’t believe it is because of the WordPress 3.3 upgrade, because my other websites are working fine.

Any help would be greatly apperciated.

    Thank you.

I am still hoping for a reply to my post. My site address is AVSoffice.com.

Hi Everyone, I am working with the Twenty Eleven WP theme and am having a bit of trouble. If you go to my site here you will notice that when you scroll down the page, the text moves but the background stays stationary. I would like to know how to change the CSS code so that the background moves with the body text. Thanks in advance for your help.

@bhd1234, I love your background, where did you find it, and is there library out there?

I also would like to know how I can freeze the navigation bar, and have the body scroll up? https://www.avsoffice.com.

    Hi guys,

I used twentyeleven for a friend’s site who copies news items from the content of an email and pastes them into a post of twentyeleven. The site looks fine in IE, but in firefox all the text extends beyond and above the sidebar on the right side of the page.

Would you please tell me how I can get that text to stay where it belongs, within the content area, as it already does stay in IE?

    This is the site.. https://www.gwizreport.com

    Thanks,

    Kenny

    Hi guys,

I used twentyeleven for a friend’s site who copies news items from emails as HTML and pastes these into posts of twentyeleven. In spite of the HTML formatting, the site looks good in IE, but in firefox all the text extends beyond its column and above the sidebar on the right side of the page.

Would you please tell me how I can get that text to stay within its column, as it does stay in IE?

    This is the site

    Thanks
